January 19, 2005 -- MIAMI — Telecommunications giant AT&T Corp. has agreed to provide up to 8,000 prepaid 60-minute calling cards to Floridians serving in Iraq, Kuwait and Afghanistan to settle a lawsuit brought by Florida's attorney general.
Florida Attorney General Charlie Crist said yesterday that the agreement resolved a suit brought against AT&T for wrongly charging Florida customers for services they neither requested nor received.
Crist said in a statement the company has also paid more than $1 million in refunds or credits to customers after it billed 86,700 of them with an improper $3.95 monthly charge beginning around Jan. 1, 2004.
